If you’re working out your budget you’ll have noticed by now that catering is probably your biggest cost. Which means room for possible movement!
Some ideas that might help your budget:
Not having canapes, or possibly serving them instead of a starter.
Serving wedding cake as dessert.
A bbq/buffet/hog roast/paella will almost certainly work out cheaper than a sit down meal.
If your venue isn’t tied to one caterer its worth looking into other options. Most venues will make a charge for this but it can often be more than cancelled out by the savings.
Lastly, not strictly catering, but still a valid point. Bringing in your own wine, look at local and national suppliers and despite corkage you’ll probably get more for your money. Look at suppliers like Adnams, Majestic, Laithwaites and Virgin Wines for a good start.
